Nicolas Cage made his film debut in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, made when he was 17, and in the credits he is listed by his given name, Nicolas Coppola -- his uncle is Francis Ford Coppola. He changed his name to Nicolas Cage, and appeared in three films directed by his uncle Rumble Fish (1983), The Cotton Club (1984), and Peggy Sue Got Married (1986). He won an Oscar for his 1995 performance in Leaving Las Vegas, drinking himself to death on a Vegas vacation.

Cage played an Elvis-inspired thug and sang "Love Me Tender" in Wild at Heart. He played an Elvis-impersonator in Honeymoon in Vegas, and he played "Tiny Elvis" in a memorable Saturday Night Live skit when he hosted in 1992. Cage is reportedly a big fan of Elvis, and for barely 100 days in 2002, he was married to the King's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.

He has credited Bill Bixby as a strong influence on his acting style.
