The cruise ship Poseidon, on her final voyage, is overturned by a tsunami; as survivors head for the engine room now located at the top of the ship, their numbers whittle away. Somewhat corny and with some indulgent overacting, but still one of the best disaster-at-sea films made. Won Oscar for Best Original Song, "The Morning After", and a Special Achievement Award for Visual Effects; received nominations for 7 others including Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Dramatic Score.
