After he tries to hire famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot to be his bodyguard, an American expatriate is stabbed to death on the Orient Express, the train running from Paris to Istanbul. Everyone on the Express, which is now stranded in a Yugoslav snowdrift, becomes a suspect. It also develops that the murder victim masterminded a horrific crime in the States, and likely has no shortage of enemies. Won Oscar for Best Supporting Actress; nominated for 5 others including Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay.
