Executive summary: Premarital Intercourse and Interpersonal Relationships Sociologist Lester A. Kirkendall began teaching sex education in 1928, and wrote numerous books and pamphlets explaining the facts of life in an era long before "sex education" was a part of standard education curriculum. In 1976 he wrote the first draft of the American Humanist Association's "Bill of Sexual Rights and Responsibilities", which called for a more balanced view of sex, including sex reasons other than mere procreation, with more open access to information, and fewer taboos.
