Heisman Trophy winner, mostly for a remarkable and frequently replayed "Hail Mary" pass that won a 1984 football game for Boston College against the University of Miami. Later played in the USFL and for four NFL teams, but garnered his greatest success in the Canadian Football League. Named Most Valuable Player in all three Grey Cup championship games won by his teams, the Calgary Stampeders in 1992, and the Toronto Argonauts in 1996 and 1997.
