Longtime Chairman of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. Republican, he defeated actress Nancy Kulp in 1984. Shuster resigned in 2003 for health reasons and was succeeded by his son. An ethics complaint was filed against Bud Shuster in 1994 after his top aide, Ann Eppard, quit and immediately joined a lobby firm, where the two "developed a complex interconnecting web of legislative, political, financial, and personal ties" (Roll Call, quoted by the complaint.) She raised money both for the Congressman and his son.
