Executive summary: Former Patriots tight end, murderer 4th round draft pick in 2010, being the 113th pick overall. Most NFL General Managers considered him a problem waiting to happen, or he would have been picked much sooner. Hernandez was fired by the Patriots immediately after his arrest for murder, without waiting for Roger Goodell to suspend him for personal conduct violations. This move, intended to get him off the team roster as quickly as possible, cost the Patriots millions of dollars[1] -- they will likely file a civil lawsuit against him. He was convicted of one count of murder and sentenced to life in prison, while two other murder charges against him were still working their way through the courts at the time of his suicide in 2017.
