Maverick and unstable cop Martin Riggs is partnered with Roger Murtagh, veteran cop near retirement, to investigate the suicide of the daughter of one of Murtagh's friends from Vietnam; they uncover a drug smuggling ring run by an albino mastermind. While certainly contrived, excellent chemistry makes this perhaps the ultimate buddy cop movie. Riggs is a bit crazier in this one than any of the 3 sequels. Received an Oscar nomination for Best Sound.
