Director: Robert Wise Writer: Ernest Lehman From novel: The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp Based on a book by: Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse Keywords: Musical, Nuns, Nazis A young Austrian nun receives an assignment to be governess to the seven children of widowed Captain Von Trapp. She falls in love with Von Trapp, and must back out of her assignment so as not to jeopardize his impending marriage with a baroness. Meanwhile the Anschluss brings Austria under control of Nazi Germany. Won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Score, Best Editing and Best Sound; received 5 additional nominations including Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Cinematography. Entered 2001 into the National Film Registry.
