The bride's father agrees that if he can raise a $25,000 dowry, the marriage may proceed. Lucky heads to New York where he meets dance instructor Penny Carroll, played by Ginger Rogers; he enrolls in her class and makes remarkable progress! They fall in love and he ceases all attempts to raise the dowry, but neglects to tell Penny that he is engaged. One of Astaire and Rogers best films. Won Oscar for Best Original Song, "The Way You Look Tonight", and receive a nomination for Best Dance Direction.
