ABSTRACT
Former Batman star Michael Keaton is Riggan Thomson, once-shining action hero suffering through a middle-aged career swoon and associated bout of existential depression. Desperate to recapture the essence of days gone by, Thomson opts to stage a grand Broadway production, putting himself through an emotional endurance test as writer, director, and star of a play intended to rocket him back to relevance in the public lexicon.
