Jodorowsky's Dune (18-May-2013)
Director: Frank Pavich Keywords: Documentary, Filmmaking Feature-length documentary details filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky's failed screen adaptation of a classic science fiction novel.
ABSTRACT A best-selling epic matched by few in its genre, Frank Herbert opus Dune would go on to inspire a number of later standout science fiction works -- most notably George Lucas' Star Wars franchise -- and win countless awards. This, however, is not a tale of Dune's excellence as a work of fiction. Rather, it is a documentary about eccentric Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky's infamous botched attempt at giving the grand tale an equally-grand screen treatment, detailing misadventures running the gamut from problems casting Salvador Dali and Orson Welles in major roles to project-compromising budget overruns.
