ABSTRACT Bill, Denise, Jerry, and Mary, four folklore-obsessed young adults driving through the backwoods of rural Texas to investigate a legend concerning a "Dr. Satan" for a book about offbeat urban legends, happen upon and pick up a strange hitchhiker by the name of Baby. Unbeknownst to our poor protagonists, Baby hails from a family comprised of psychotic serial killers, a terrifying fact made abundantly clear when they are lured inside the clan's horror-filled compound and forced into a battle for their survival.
