ABSTRACT
Portia Nathan, an admissions officer at Princeton University, makes a visit to an alternative high school that counts gifted-yet-unconventional young man and potential recruit Jeremiah amongst its pupils. When Portia learns through school proprietor and ex-college classmate John Pressman that Jeremiah may be the biological son she gave up in a secret adoption years earlier, she finds herself diving head-first into a whirlwind existence of rule-bending and romance.
