Director: Robert De Niro Writer: Eric Roth Keywords: Thriller Political thriller follows the explosive early history of the Central Intelligence Agency through the eyes of one of its brightest operatives.
ABSTRACT The Central Intelligence Agency, a branch of the American government as storied as it is controversial, finds its earliest years placed under a dramatized microscope in The Good Shepherd, a political thriller following those tumultuous years through the eyes of one Edward Wilson. Wilson, an idealistic man and Yale graduate, enters the newly-formed Office of Strategic Services upon exiting college, imbued with a desire to do good in the world; as the years wear on, however, our man hardens into a cynic, affected to a profound degree by Cold War-era paranoia and events surrounding the early-1960s Bay of Pigs incident as he moves towards uncovering a leak that could prove devastating to his career and employer.
