Newly appointed as a pathologist at a Boston hospital, Dr. Peter Carey is alerted to an emergency involving a 15-year-old's death from a botched illegal abortion. The girl's mother names Carey's colleague, Dr. David Tau, as the abortionist, but he finds this accusation difficult to believe. Complicating matters, the girl is daughter of the hospital's largest donor. Far from the best Crichton adaptation.
