ABSTRACT
Martin Asher is a notorious Canadian serial killer with a penchant for impersonation, assuming the identities and livelihoods of his victims ever since pushing a young man in the way of an oncoming truck as a teenager in the 1980s. Flash forward twenty years later, when authorities seeking to capture Martin solicit the assistance of well-regarded FBI profiler Illeana Scott, bringing her to Quebec City as she struggles with the culture shock of being an American in a French-speaking metropolis while working on advice from Martin's mother and a witness to his most recent killing to get her shape-shifting man.
