ABSTRACT
Inman, a broken young soldier fighting in the waning days of the American Civil War, chooses to abandon the ongoing conflict in favor of a trip home to Cold Mountain, North Carolina to reunite with the love of his life. Perilous obstacles and a panoply of eccentric individuals abound as the injured Inman charts his course through a landscape charred by war in ways both literal and figurative.
