The War Lover (25-Oct-1962)
Director: Philip Leacock Writer: Howard Koch From novel: The War Lover by John Hersey Keywords: Drama, WWII Steve McQueen is Buzz Rickson, a mildly psychotic B-17 bomber pilot whose behavior borders on insubordination, taking risks but always seeming to end up whole at the end. His colleague, Robert Wagner as Lt. Ed Bolland, mostly wants to get through the war intact. Bolland defends Rickson, but over time, their differences make that more and more difficult, a situation compounded as they both fall for the same girl. Best appreciated after having read John Hersey's excellent novel.
