CIA agent Miles Kendig receives a reprimand and reassignment to a desk job after he deliberately (and with good reason) permits a known KGB agent to walk away. He considers the reassignment as de facto retirement and commences writing his tell-all memoir, to the great consternation of intelligence agencies in several countries. Kendig adeptly uses his skills to skip around the globe, leaving a deliberate trail for CIA to follow. Very enjoyable, with Matthau in a perfect role.
