After left-wing American expatriate journalist Charles Horman is disappeared by the Chilean government in the aftermath of a right-wing coup d'etat, his wife and his Republican father make great efforts to find him, finding themselves stonewalled by both the American embassy and the Chileans. Impressive political thriller. Won an Oscar for Best Adaptation; received additional nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress. Won also the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
