Izzy's grandmother Bubby is a matchmaker who sets her up with a perfectly fine nice young man, Sam, who sells pickles on Delancey Street. Still single and in her 30s, Izzy works at an elite literary bookstore, is superficially attracted to a writer she has met while working there (who may not be the most appropriate partner for her), and objects a bit to Sam's low occupation.
