Josh Lucas AKA Joshua Lucas Easy Dent Maurer Born: 20-Jun-1971 Birthplace: Little Rock, AR
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: Wonderland In his childhood, Josh Lucas lived with his family near a small town in South Carolina, and had his first brush with the movie business when a film production crew rented his family's house for a few weeks. The kid was impressed, and intrigued, by show business.
His parents were anti-nuclear activists, which led to frequent relocations. In his teens, the family finally settled on tiny Fox Island, near Tacoma, Washington, where young Josh won a statewide drama competition in drama both his junior and senior years of high school.
"I started out in high school," Lucas says. "It was immediate. It was like, this is what I do. This is what I will fight for. I suffered, struggled. I was really bad at it. It was a long period of time where I tried to figure out what worked, what didn't work. What I could learn about theater and the camera and all the different things."
Instead of attending drama classes, he moved to L.A., where he had no trouble landing guest spots on early-1990s shows like Life Goes On, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, and Jake and the Fatman. He had a small role in the cannibal flick Alive, and -- after belatedly taking those acting lessons -- Stephen King's wasting-away thriller, Thinner.
He has worked in progressively higher-profile films since then, including A Beautiful Mind, Wonderland, and Hulk. His niche seems to be playing young and often cynical or unsympathetic characters, but he is probably best known as Reese Witherspoon's lovable redneck husband in Sweet Home Alabama.
