Supported 2008 Wall Street bailout, 2009 economic stimulus, 2010 health care reform; opposed 2008 GM/Chrysler bailout.
On 8 January 2011, Giffords was shot in the head and gravely injured during a public event at a grocery store in Tucson, Arizona. Six others, including US District Judge John M. Roll, were killed. She resigned from Congress on 25 January 2012, to concentrate on her arduous recovery.
