ABSTRACT
Rick, a Los Angeles screenwriter with money to burn and beautiful women at his disposal, is moved to search for purpose in his existence when a powerful earthquake leaves him questioning his mortality. Conversations with a revolving door of enablers, Rick's psychotic brother and troubled father, and narration by a God-like figure telling a tale of a prince and a pearl set against gorgeous backdrops probe the depths of Rick's sense of self.

Terrence Malick's least accessible film to date; imagery and narrative (or lack thereof) border on Koyaanisqatsi territory. Your mileage will depend on your familiarity with LA's seedy underbelly.
