In this second sequel to The Evil Dead (1981), Ash is transported to 1300 AD, mistaken for a member of an opposing army and sentenced to death by battle with a deadite. Unexpectedly, he wins; his captors ask that he retrieve the Necronomicon in order to free the land from evil. But his mission does not go as expected. Considerably less gore than the first two installments, and much more humor.
