COMPANY

Formed when General Motors purchased Hughes Aircraft from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and merged it with DELCO Electronics, 31 December 1985. The name Hughes Aircraft lives on as a division of Hughes Electronics, and in 1995 General Dynamics' missile business was acquired and merged in as well. Also in 1995, Magnavox was acquired for $382.4M. In 1997 Hughes Aircraft merged with Raytheon.
