Acquired Convair (merged 1954), Chrysler Combat Systems (purchased 1982), Bath Iron Works (purchased 1995), Gulfstream Aerospace (purchased 2001) and National Steel and Shipbuilding (purchased 1998.) Formerly GD owned Cessna, but sold that division in 1992 to Textron.
