Cleveland Browns
SPORTS FRANCHISE
The original Cleveland Browns football team was founded 1946, and named for its first coach, Paul Brown. Played in the All-America Football Conference, a new league that competed against the National Football League (NFL), winning AAFC championships in 1946, 1947, 1948, and 1949. Joined the NFL in 1950, and won NFL championships in 1950, 1954, 1955, and 1964. Relocated and renamed the Baltimore Ravens in 1996.
A new Cleveland Browns expansion franchise joined the NFL in 1999, and by league edict the first team's history and championships have been deemed property of the current Browns.
