He launched his first record label, Illegal Records, to debut The Police (his brother Stewart was the band's drummer). The single, "Fall Out/Nothing Achieving", sold a remarkable 70,000 copies. With the help of A&M Records he became the founder of IRS Records and another record label Ark 21. He has been manager of band Squeeze, Sting, Alannah Myles, etc.
