Made it his mission to attend televised sports events -- pro playoff games, Super Bowls, the Olympics, the Indianapolis 500, etc -- wearing a multi-colored wig and waving a sign that referenced the Bible verse "John 3:16". These antics invariably got the TV camera crew to focus on him during lulls in the athletic action, making him famous as "Rock 'n' Rollen" or the John 3:16 Dude. His fame took a turn toward the dark side in 1992, when he masterminded a botched kidnapping that grew into a hostage situation at a California hotel. He is presently serving three life sentences in prison, presumably without the wig.
