[1] Among sources that give September 6th: Mark Blake, Comfortably Numb: The Inside Story of Pink Floyd (2007); Glenn Povey, Echoes: The Complete History of Pink Floyd (2007). The MySpace page is clearly not operated by Waters himself and so although it states the 6th it cannot be relied upon as accurate testimonial. Among sources that give September 9th: Colin Larkin, The Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music (1995); Mike Watkinson and Pete Anderson, Crazy Diamond: Syd Barrett & the Dawn of Pink Floyd (2001); Nicholas Schaffner, Saucerful of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Odyssey (1992). As this final two sources have the best account of Waters' family, we are most confident with that date. It should also be noted that some sources give 1944 as his birth year. As his father Eric Fletcher Waters was killed during the Anzio campaign in January 1944, such a date would be problematic.

[2] Interview with Steve Kroft, 60 Minutes, broadcast 20 May 2012: "It [war deaths of his father and grandfather] seemed to have skipped a generation, thank God. Not that there is a God, but you know what I mean."
