Physician and state legislator elected to Congress in 2008 as a Democrat, but voted along Republican Party lines on almost every issue, including opposition to 2009 economic stimulus and 2010 health care reform. Publicly questioned the mental stability of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and surprised no-one when he officially branded himself a Republican on 22 December 2009. Defeated in 2010 election and succeeded by Mo Brooks.
[1] Switched from Democratic Party to Republican, 22 December 2009.
