Executive summary: Almanac of American Politics

Principal co-author of the Almanac of American Politics, which was purchased by the National Journal for a considerable sum. Formerly a liberal, his present stance is more that of a neoconservative -- some would say propagandist. His wife, Joan Shorenstein, died from cancer and an academic center was funded at Harvard by her parents as the "Joan Shorenstein Barone Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy." With the shift in Barone's views to far right, his name was quietly dropped at the family's request.
