After graduating UCLA Law school, Sneddon served a stint with the US Army in Vietnam and then as Deputy District Attorney for Santa Barbara County (1969-77), after which he was promoted to Supervisor of Criminal Operations. A nickname he earned during this time period was "Mad Dog". Sneddon was elected in 1983 as District Attorney for Santa Barbara County. He is most famous for an ongoing prosecutorial "feud" with the King of Pop Michael Jackson, starting in 1993 and culminating with Jackson's ultimate acquittal on 13 June 2005.
