Unfortunately, Morris Albert had plagiarized the melody from a 1956 French song, Louis Gast�'s Pour Toi ("For You"). He lost a 1985 copyright lawsuit, and was ordered to pay a $500,000 settlement plus 88% of future royalties. It was Albert's only hit.
