Executive summary: Det. Adam Flint on Naked City Born in New Orleans, his father was a onetime boxer who eventually became a restaurateur. At age 19 he left for Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Learning his craft at the Pasadena Playhouse, he only was able to obtain small roles until 1956, when he was cast as Dr. Noah McCann in the television series Noah's Ark. It did not last long, but it earned him enough exposure to land a higher profile role in 1960, as NYPD Detective Adam Flint beginning in the second season of Naked City. Television had one more starring role for him, Col. Joseph Gallagher of the 918th Bombardment Group in the WWII adventure/drama 12 O'Clock High. Burke frequently appeared on the small screen in the 1970s and 1980s, including a recurring role as Neal McVane on the nighttime soap opera Dynasty.
