He had a long history in radio, including positions at WWHG (Hornell, New York) WKIS (Orlando), WEEI (Boston), WCAU (Philadelphia), and a national syndication on the WOR Radio Network in 1991-94, reaching 162 stations. He was later the evening host of a politically-oriented show on KGO-AM in San Francisco (one of the largest stations in the United States) as well as a weekend food/wine program called Dining Around with Gene Burns.
