Asked, then, if he's homosexual, Bauer said: One word, two letters. No. Let's go ahead and dispel that now." Why a denial of homosexuality was necessary was unclear. And on 31 August 2009 he was described as "a closeted anti-gay politician" by BlogActive, the same site that outted Larry Craig as gay and Mark Foley as "hitting on men half his age" before either man's proclivity was reported in mainstream media.
