AQUARIUM

Founded 1992 as the New Jersey State Aquarium, renamed in 2005. Originally a nonprofit, a series of tactical blunders -- poorly designed venue, concentration on uninteresting native fish, and failure to cater to the public's desires -- brought about the sale of the aquarium to the for-profit Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, who presently operate it.
