PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION

Founded as the Society of Telegraph Engineers in 1871, it became the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1889. IEE merged with the Institution of Incorporated Engineers in 2006 to form the present Institution of Engineering and Technology. Present membership, approximately 150,000.
