"The Georgia Chamber of Commerce has evolved many times since it began in 1915. Born as the Georgia Manufacturing Organization, it became the Associated Industries of Georgia in 1939, and later, in 1968, became the Georgia Business and Industry Association. That association, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, begun in 1930, and revived in 1950, were consolidated in 1983 to form the Business Council of Georgia."
