Conservative thinktank, key funder of the conservative "tea party" movement, and a virtual factory for creating well-funded advocacy groups designed to look like grass-roots efforts. AFP's front groups include Free Our Energy (calling for increased domestic oil drilling), the Hot Air Tour (climate change denial), No Climate Tax (opposing legislation that addresses global climate change), and Patients United Now (opposing health care reform). Until 2008, AFP shared office space and staff with the Independent Women's Forum (an anti-feminist group), but IWF has since moved into its own offices.
