The International Herald Tribune
NEWSPAPER
Founded 1887 as the Paris Herald, as a European edition of the New York Herald. Renamed the Paris Herald-Tribune with the 1924 merger of the New York Herald and New York Tribune. Rather cumbersomely rechristened The New York Herald Tribune, European Edition in 1935. Bought by John Hay Whitney in 1959. In 1966, Whitney sold equal shares of the paper to The Washington Post Co. and The New York Times Company; renamed International Herald-Tribune the following year. The Post and Times jointly managed the paper until 2003, when the New York Times Company became its sole owner. Renamed The International New York Times in 2013. Offices in Paris and Hong Kong.
