NEWSPAPER

Created in 1868 when three newspapers, the Louisville Journal (est. 1830), the Louisville Courier (est. 1843), and Democrat (est. 1844), were melded into one by the efforts of Henry Watterson, the first editor of the combined paper. It is the largest daily in Kentucky.
