Death Wish (24-Jul-1974)
Director: Michael Winner Writer: Wendell Mayes From novel: Death Wish by Brian Garfield Music Composed, Orchestrated, and Performed by: Herbie Hancock Producers: Hal Landers; Bobby Roberts Keywords: Crime, Revenge, Vigilante, New York After the death of his wife at the hands of muggers, a New York City architect thwarts his own mugging by killing the mugger with a .32 revolver. A former pacifist and conscientious objector, he finds the catharsis from that act invigorating; he makes himself an attractive target for muggers and commences a one-man city beautification project. Probably the best vigilante film, and certainly the most-copied. Spawned many inferior sequels. Herbie Hancock's score was nominated for a Grammy.
