ABSTRACT
Julien Janvier, intelligent young man forever haunted by his mother's untimely death, drifts towards confident Pole Sophie Kowalsky from a young age thanks largely to their shared love of outrageous stunts. Thus begins a peculiar game of "dares", symbolized by an equally peculiar music box, that dictates their burgeoning relationship, growing ever stronger and wilder as it tears the pair apart through the years and ultimately brings them back together again despite their marriages to other lovers.
