ABSTRACT
Nolan, the happy father of a newborn daughter in New Orleans, Louisiana, finds his happiness turning to anguish when his spouse perishes in the final stages of a premature pregnancy, leaving their child on life support. When Hurricane Katrina floods the hospital and compromises the facility's power supply, Nolan must assume an unlikely role as his child's caregiver, struggling to keep her alive inside a neonatal incubator as the minutes grow into hours and help fails to arrive.
