Two sisters, 10-year-old Satsuki and 4-year-old Mei, move to the countryside where their father writes a book; their mother suffers from a mysterious ailment and is permanently in hospital. They encounter Totoro, a forest spirit who becomes their friend; he sends them on a fantastical journey. Captivating story. The original dubbed version dates to 1993, from Streamline Pictures. In 2005 a re-dubbed version in English was prepared, with voices by sisters Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning.
