Julien Tavernier, employed by notorious arms dealer Simon Carala, is in love with Simon's wife, Florence. They plot Simon's murder and Julien carries it out, but returns to the office building when he realizes a piece of evidence has been left dangling. In the process, he is locked in side the building's elevator. Excellent noir thriller; Louis Malle's first feature film.
